About Us
We are very pleased to announce the the new Skeld Pier is now open for business, thanks to the efforts of the local community, the LEADER fund, SIC Development & HIE Shetland. Local company Malakoff completed the job on time and on budget. This facility will serve the Skeld and district community for generations to come.
The Skeld Pier Trust (SPT) is a registered charity tasked with the care and upkeep of the pier at Skeld Harbour, Shetland and has now completed the upgrade and added new facilities for the leisure, commercial and education sectors.
SPT vision is for a vibrant, community based facility which will ensure community cohesion, diversity and inclusion for all, including wheelchair users and special needs groups by designing the facilities to be accessible to all.
The pier currently sustains 7 full time jobs, with a further 4 possible in the tourism sector.
